After winning medals in eight of 10 multi-class events during the week-long Brisbane championships, the 2012 Paralympian will head to Pasadena, California, in August to swim for Australia.

But not before she flies to Brazil on Friday to swim in the country's championships.

"She's on a small team of 12 para swimmers who will go to Brazil," mother Kim Corry said.

"We only found out at nationals she was eligible to go."

In Brisbane, Corry won gold medals in the 100-metre freestyle and backstroke events, and the 400-metre freestyle.

She also won silver for the 200-metre freestyle and the 50-metre backstroke and butterfly and added bronze medals to her collection from her performance in the 200-metre individual medley and 50-metre freestyle.

"She always does well, but I know she would like to have gone faster than what she did," Kim said.

The Para Pan Pacific Championships are the highest Corry can go this year, with only males aged 14 and above from the multi or para swimming class eligible to swim in the Commonwealth Games.

Corry, an S14 classified swimmer, and her mother moved from Anna Bay to the Sunshine Coast, in Queensland's south, recently.

The 19-year-old, while still representing the Nelson Bay Swimming Club, trains and swims with the University of Sunshine Coast's high performance Paralympic squad.

Last Friday, April 11, Corry found out she was included in a small group of NSW Institute of Sport athletes to meet the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the Sydney Opera House.

But not before her mother made Corry strip her hair of the green she dyed it for the Brisbane championships, a quirky ritual she does each big event.

"I said to her, you can't meet Prince William with green hair," Kim said.
