Port Stephens Annual Business Awards

NOMINATIONS for this year's Examiner Annual Business Awards have opened and Port residents are being urged to get behind their favorite business and get involved.

Examiner general manager Michael Wright said last year 10,345 nominations flowed in and he hoped to see even more this year.

"In any case, history has shown that people in Port Stephens are very passionate, loyal and territorial in regards to many of the places they do business," he said.

"I'm expecting that the fantastic result last year of 10,345 votes, will be surpassed this year."

A few new categories have surfaced as a result of public suggestions with best shopping complex or precinct being one and children's services being another.

An award for best new business has also been added to recognise and encourage businesses starting out in Port Stephens. It is open for any new business or new business owner within their first year.

Voting for this year's awards has started and closes at 5pm on September 7.

Up for grabs for one lucky voter is a 47inch LG smart television. To vote fill out the form at your favorite shop or email the shops details and your own to competitions@pse.fairfax.com.au .

A gala dinner and awards presentation will be at Diggers Nelson Bay on Wednesday, October 31.
