Residents and visitors to the Port can attend a variety of Anzac Day services, with dawn services in Nelson Bay likely to attract crowds in the thousands to Apex Park, opposite d'Albora Marinas, the new location of the cenotaph.
"We get a really good turnout for such a small place," Nelson Bay RSL Sub-branch vice-president Tom Lupton said.
He said the dawn service, at 6am, was expected to draw more than last year's couple of thousand.
Those going to pay their respects can fill the park and line the streets at Apex Park, which Mr Lupton said was more accessible than the previous location at the top of Government Road.
There will be a gunfire breakfast at Nelson Bay Diggers at 6.45am, before service members start the march from the club, heading down Stockton Street to Apex Park for the main service at 11am.
Meanwhile in Raymond Terrace the 6am dawn service at the memorial, on the corner of Jacaranda Avenue, should attract more people than last year, according to Raymond Terrace RSL Sub-branch secretary Bill Garrett.
He said turnout would depend on the weather but that the number attending grew every year.
About 150 servicemen will enjoy a barbecue breakfast at the club after the dawn service. Then at 10.30am they will march from Sturgeon Street in time for the main service at the memorial at 11am.
"There will be in excess of 2000 people at the main service," Mr Garrett said.
Other RSL clubs in Port Stephens will also hold Anzac Day services tomorrow.
For more information about times and venues for dawn services, breakfasts, main services and other events refer to the Anzac Day service list.
