But Nelson Bay dietitian Natalie Edwards is passionate about the science behind the food - the nutrition it provides - and wants to help residents learn better eating habits without hardcore dieting and feeling guilty about indulging in small pleasures.
The "passionate, food-loving", accredited practising dietitian began Nat's Nutritious Delicious in 2012, a blog that quickly gained more than 2000 devoted followers, which turned into a business mid-2013.
"I turned Nat's Nutritious Delicious into a company and started the process of developing Nat's Nutritious Delicious meal plans," Ms Edwards said.
"It's not about diet.
"It's about creating a healthy, sustainable lifestyle."
"Healthy" and "sustainable" may be buzz words many people tune out to now, but Ms Edwards said it was not hard to achieve both.
That is where she comes in.
The benefits of signing up to Nutritious Delicious were that, as well as having access to a forum of like-minded people and to an accredited practicing dietician, meals were planned and a shopping list generated for you.
All you had to do was select from three options for each meal.
"It is important to promote a balance of nutrients with the occasional treat," Ms Edwards said.
"The focus is on well-being.
"Any weight loss is a bonus."
Many recipes featured on Ms Edwards's website were developed by her while working full-time with the Hunter Medical Research Institute, where she collaborated with the World Health Organisation and the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
Meal plans, available from natsnutritiousdelicious.com, are $75 for 12 weeks.
For one week from the publication date, Examiner readers can sign up for a 12-week meal plan for $50 if they use the coupon code mealplan1.
