MIGALOO, arguably the most famous whale since Moby Dick, passed through Port Stephens last Friday, delighting the many who gathered to catch a glimpse of the majestic white mammal.

The Port's cruise companies were quick to track the white whale, which passed Birubi Point just before 2pm.
Imagine Cruises skipper Frank Future said Migaloo seemed quite popular.
"There were lots of other whales around him," Mr Future said.
Migaloo reportedly put on a show for those standing on the headlands at Fingal Bay or cruising in boats alongside him, by breaching the water.
He even delighted long-time whale activist Mr Future, who said in the three times he had seen him before, he had never breached.
Mr Future said Migaloo was about 14 metres long and about 28 years old.
He is not an albino whale, as he does not have pink eyes, but simply has no pigment in his flesh.
There is only one other all-white whale, an offspring of Migaloo.
"We're lucky," Mr Future said.
"There is only white whales in this east coast population.
"There have been no other sightings of white whales in any other populations."
Mr Future said he holds Migaloo directly responsible for kickstarting the Port's whale watching industry following his first sighting in the area in 1996.
On Friday he delighted those on board Imagine Cruises, with Mr Future saying it was usually a once in a lifetime opportunity for them to see him.
