The Holiday Coast Credit Union handed out $11,299 last week at the bank’s Tea Gardens branch.
Grants of between $300 and $3000 will go to Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Surf Life Saving Club, Myall U3A, Tea Gardens Soccer Club, Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Preschool, Bulahdelah and Districts Historical Society and the Bulahdelah Show Society.
The $2999 granted to Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Preschool will go towards buying bathroom fittings and fixtures as part of its building extensions at the preschool.
‘‘We’re slowly poking away at doing the fit out to occupancy as funds become available,’’ preschool management committee president Anita Howarth said.
The preschool was moving into stage two of construction, which was to get the school to occupancy.
While it has been fully operational during the lock-out stage, it was moving closer towards completion, with a disabled toilet, a bathroom accessible from the playground and combined staff/utility room.
‘‘Stage one we received a sizeable grant through the community building partnership program as well as our own money,’’ she said.
‘‘We need another $50,000.
‘‘So far we have received this $3000 grant plus a $1000 donation and another $1500 community donation.’’
The surf lifesaving club received the largest grant, $3000, to buy training surf boards for nippers.
After the preschool, the third largest grant, $2200, was given to the Bulahdelah Show Society to upgrade the showground’s kitchen and food preparation area and $1800 went to Bulahdelah Historical Society for electric light displays.
The Myall U3A received $1000 to buy the rights to perform copyright music.
The Tea Gardens Soccer Club received $300 for a new barbecue
