The pair started the successful Bondi Chai latte company in 2005 and were awarded first prize in the micro business category at an award ceremony in Sydney on July 1.
"It was very unexpected," Ms Edyvean said of the win.
"When they announced it Martin was so excited and I was just in complete shock."
The idea for Bondi Chai came from the US when the pair were on holiday.
They brought the idea back to Australian soil and after importing chai for some time, they eventually started their own blend.
Bondi Chai has annual global sales approaching $2 million and is stocked by supermarket giants Coles and Woolworths.
While the award brings excellent publicity the pair also received prizes and cash worth $5000.
The business is now entered in the national competition with winners announced in August.
