Protecting native animals and livestock
GREAT Lakes Council and Karuah and Great Lakes Landcare will hold a workshop on the management of feral animals on Saturday, July 19, from 9.30am until 1.30pm at Bulahdelah. Discussion topics include the impact and management of feral animals and practical demonstrations of setting traps, baiting and the use of cameras will be included.

HSC study nights at Forster Library
GREAT Lakes Council’s Forster Library will open its doors to HSC students on Wednesday, July 23, July 30 and August 6 from 5pm to 8pm.
Free food, internet, printing and copying facilities will be provided and students can use the space for group or individual study.
No bookings are required and students can stay for as long or as little time as they feel is required.
The library is closed to other patrons during the HSC study nights.
Seeking real happiness, contentment
FORSTER Library will host one of the most respected and knowledgeable Tibetan Buddhist teachers working in Australia, Khenpo Ngawang, on Friday, July 18, at 6.30pm.
The evening talk is a careful examination of how we can improve our everyday lives by looking insightfully at our beliefs and reactions to our emotions and how our thinking can be adjusted in such a way that can help increase our general feelings of happiness and contentment.
The cost is $10 or $8 for concession.
Author Tim Bowden speaks at library
AUTHOR Tim Bowden will give a talk at Forster Library on Monday, July 21, at 7pm on his new book, Stubborn Buggers – the little known story of Singapore’s Outram Road jail and the prisoners of war who endured it.
The book follows the experiences of 12 Australian POWs who fought and survived the battle for Malaya, then endured captivity and slave labour, followed by the unimaginable hardships of Outram Road jail.
A cost of $10 covers refreshments, and bookings can be made by phoning Forster Library on 65917256, or pay at the door.
