AHEAD of his appearance in the Commonwealth Games, the Men of League bid farewell to Richard Girvan, who helped organise the foundation's next charity fund-raising day.

Newcastle-Hunter Men of League treasurer Chris Kelly presented Mr Girvan, the Nelson Bay Bowling Club's operations and bowls manager with a thank-you gift for helping organise the next fund-raising bowls day, ahead of the New Zealander's appearance in the Games.
"We presented Richard with a shirt and cap as a thank you and to wish him well in Scotland," Mr Kelly said.
"Richard has been marvellous help to the Men of League Foundation."
The bowls day is one event the Men of League hosts to raise money for the foundation, which assists and supports players, their families and volunteers of the game.
"The Men of League charity foundation run these days to help pay for our welfare department, which assists families of footballers who have come on hard times," Mr Kelly said.
The function will again be held at Nelson Bay Bowling Club, starting at 9.30am on Sunday, September 28.
The field is limited to 160 people, with prizes for overall winners, best margins and lucky team draws.
Entry costs $80 for a team of four, which includes two games of 12 ends and a roast lunch. Entries are available at the bowling club.
