Round eight of the MX Nationals will be held at the MX Central Ride Park, just outside Raymond Terrace in Eagleton, on August 3.

The Port's Josh Green, of Soldiers Point, planned to take part in the championships but has pulled out due to injury.

The national championship consists of 10 rounds that are held across five states, over a five-month period from March to August.

The MX Nationals attracts talented Australian motorcyclists and international riders throughout the season.

The nationals also plays host to regional riders who enter individual rounds throughout the year when the series travels to their hometowns.

Novocastrian Craig Anderson, manager of factory race team Berry Sweet Husqvarna, won the MX Nationals five times in his career before his retirement in 2012.

He said the championship was a "perfect opportunity" for young riders looking to make a go of the sport to get out and make something of themselves.

"If you go out there and do well in a national championship, you will definitely get noticed," Anderson said.

"If you wanted to have a go, this is the perfect opportunity," he said.

The MX Nationals is split into three categories: MXD for under 19s (250cc motorcycles), MX2 pro lite (250cc motorcycles) and MX1 pro open (450cc motorcycles).

Anderson's factory race team has one rider in each category: Egan Mastin in the under 19s, Daniel McCoy MX2 and Brock Winston in MX1.

Gates open at 7.30am on August 3, with the practice starting 8.30am and racing kicking off at 10.30am.

Tickets, available at the park's gate, cost $30 for adults, $20 for children aged five to 15, and $70 for families of two adults and two children.
