In the awards, parents and students nominate their favourite teachers from across the country.
"I am not surprised by the nominations," Medowie Christian School principal Samantha Van de Mortel said.
"The parents and students love our staff and recognise they go above and beyond what is expected of them."
While none of the nominees took out the final awards which were announced in May, teaching husband and wife team Troy and Katie Lavender were named state runners-up in their respective categories.
Mr Lavender is head of secondary students and a music teacher, while Mrs Lavender teaches Japanese, sport and human society and its environment classes.
The school received personal letters of congratulations from state Premier Mike Baird and federal Education Minister Christopher Pyne.
"That was definitely a surprise," Ms Van de Mortel said.
