Go Time is both "what audiences expect from me and the last thing they expect from me, which if my calculations are correct, will make for a great show".
Barker is scheduled for a pit stop at Wests Nelson Bay Diggers on Saturday, August 23.
It will be the first time the well-known comedian has performed a show in Port Stephens, which comes as part of an extensive tour across Australia and the United States.
Barker was last in Australia in 2012 as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Now two years later, and after appearing on television's The Flight of the Concords, he returns with brand new material.
The concept of Go Time is to channel that anticipation all performers feel right before a show when the lights dim, the music fades and the audience hush and begin clapping.
"Every show you've ever done leads up to this point.
"But this is the only show that matters now."
You step out on the stage and it is "go time".
Tickets to see Barker at Wests Nelson Bay Diggers, available from ProTicket or by phoning 4981 1344, cost $39 for club members and $44 for non-members.
The Examiner has one double pass to give away to the show, which starts at 8pm.
To win, send your name and contact details in an email titled "Arj" to ewatts@fairfaxmedia.com.au.
