The Port Stephens Bodyboard Club folded in 2011.
After seeing a need for a club close to home, Drew Sheedy re-formed the group.
Sheedy said the focus of the newly re-formed club would be to develop "local talent" and expose young bodyboarders to the competitive circuit.
"It's a family environment rather than just about competition," Sheedy said.
"We want mothers, fathers, grandparents to come out with their kids and encourage them."
The first competition meet was held on July 10.
Rough conditions tested members, but all levels - grommets to masters - put on a show for spectators.
