A summary of June infringement notices, a total of $15,281, was made available in the most recent council report, authored by the council’s manager for waste health and regulatory services, John Cavanagh.
Detailed in the summary was a breakdown on each fine handed out, the fine’s worth, and how many were dealt.
Also listed was the number of cautions regulatory officers issued – 100.
A business in Tea Gardens received the largest fine, $2640, for failing to comply with the Food Standard Code.
The offences were, specifically, for unclean premises, unclean fixtures, fittings and equipment and not taking all “practical measures to eradicate and prevent the entry and harbourage of pests”.
“Council had previously issued an improvement notice to this business in relation to similar issues,” Mr Cavanagh stated in the report. For each offence the business was fined $880.
The second largest fine, worth $1500, was issued to a cafe in Smiths Lakes, near Bungwahl, for carrying out a development without consent.
Seven fines, worth $304 each, were handed out to seven individuals for disobeying a no stopping sign in a school zone and five fines, worth $236 each, were issued to motorists who were caught stopped in a bus zone.
