The week, which will run from August 24 to 31, looks to raise awareness about the importance of supporting op shops in the community.
Now in its third year, National Op Shop Week is a joint initiative of DoSomething and the National Association of Charitable Recycling Organisations (NACRO).
"National Op Shop Week is an opportunity to celebrate the important and multi-faceted role of op shops in our community," NACRO chief executive Kerryn Caulfield said.
Raymond Terrace Salvos store manager Colleen Ingram said op shops were an important part of Australian society.
"With the cost of living, places like this support people doing it tough," Ms Ingram said.
"All proceeds from Salvos store go to assisting the community."
Ms Ingram said the Raymond Terrace store, on the corner of Bourke and Port Stephens streets, would be running specials throughout the week.
Joan Parkes, director of the Fingal Bay Lions Club's op shop, also encouraged residents to head into their two stores in Cascade Walk, Nelson Bay.
Mrs Parkes said residents could pick up quality goods and appliances at decent prices, which promoted recycling and reducing waste. The money went back into the community through Lions projects.
