Every year in December the Raymond Terrace Lions club sets up a Christmas gift-wrapping stall at MarketPlace shopping centre.
Marketplace Raymond Terrace donates the Christmas wrapping paper, tape and equipment and the Lions club donates the manpower.
All of the money raised gets pumped back into the community in one way or another and the funds from 2013 went towards two new picnic tables.
The club raised $2500 from the gift wrapping last year and chose to replace some of the worn-out old picnic tables in Riverside Park. The new tables are made from aluminium, making them weather-proof and giving them a longer lifespan.
The Port Stephens Council also came on board with the project and provided the set-up and installation of the new tables.
"It is a good community effort," council's team leader of parks and gardens David Roberts said.
