Not only are the workshops to bring the SeaSide Singers Community Choir together with children to develop love and talent in music, but to identify whether more singing activities are needed for Port students out of school.
The community choir's Jeanette Antrum OAM said the two workshops will run in the holidays, on September 25 and October 2, would examine that need.
"The SeaSide Singers Community Choir received a small amount of cultural funding this year from Port Stephens Council to establish whether there was a need on the Tomaree Peninsula for the development of singing activities for children, outside of the school system," Ms Antrum said.
The workshops were aimed at children between the ages of seven and 12, and the goal was to have fun singing together and looking at simple performance techniques. she said.
Where they went from that point also depended on the response from the children.
Both workshops will be held at Tomaree Library and Community Centre, Salamander Bay, between 2.30pm and 4pm.
The cost is $2 per child, per workshop. Registrations are encouraged, by September 19, but not necessary.
