Great Lakes Council is seeking comment on the proposal, which looks to rezone land in Briton Court Road for rural residential development.
The proposed rezoning will result in creating 20 to 25 large residential allotments, about 5000 square metres each.
“Council acknowledges the need to provide a range of residential living opportunities in Stroud and considers that the subject site is ideally located to support this type of development,’’ the council’s manager of strategic planning, Roger Busby, said.
“Various studies have been conducted to ensure the land is capable of supporting future residential development.
‘‘The land is free from flooding and will be connected to the town sewerage and water services.”
Mr Busby said the proposal would appeal to people looking to develop on large residential blocks close to the town.
The proposal and a draft development control plan, which will guide development of the land, will be on exhibition until October 1.
