The Port to Port MTB will run from May 28-31 next year.
Designed to be fun and challenging for riders of all level of abilities - from recreational to competitive - this year's mountain bike race, held in May, attracted riders from across Australia and overseas.
The Port to Port MTB is an economic boost for the area with Port Stephens Council and Destination Port Stephens among the supporters of the event.
"The Port to Port MTB is an exciting event for Port Stephens," council spokeswoman Kim Latham said.
"One that will hopefully become an annual event in our region."
The 2015 event will start at the Nelson Bay marina on May 28.
The 38-kilometre route will guide riders along trails through Tomaree National Park, the harbour and beaches.
The race will continue through the Hunter Valley and finish by the beach in Newcastle on May 31.
Participants can choose to ride for one, two or three days of the event or the whole four days.
Registrations can be made online at porttoportmtb.com
Fees range from at $110 for one day to $410 for four days' riding.
