Dynevor will help with coaching and recruitment, which Sharks vice-president Peter "Spider" Walsh said would help a "whole lot" with the club's aim to rebuild for the 2015 season.

"We want to be a hell of a lot stronger next year," Walsh said.

"Leo is a big drawcard for us and to have him and Adam Brown, first grade coach, we should be able to keep the boys we had this year and recruit more."

Dynevor was a well respected Aboriginal rugby league player in the 90s and recently played in the 2014 NSW Aboriginal Rugby League Knockout.

He played for the London Broncos in 1996, the Newcastle Knights in 1997 and finally the Western Suburbs Magpies from 1998 to 1999.

Dynevor was also part of the 2005 grand final-winning Sharks team, which Brown and Walsh were also part of.

"I've got a good history with the club," Dynevor said.

"Next year is the 10-year anniversary of winning the grand final.

"I captained the side in 2005.

"I've noticed over the years the Sharks slipping down the ladder and thought next year would be a good opportunity to be part of the club again."

It is hoped Dynevor's name will attract not only players, but volunteers looking to sit on the board and help with other aspects of the club next season.

In a bid to achieve that, on November 8 old boys from the club and anyone with a sound knowledge on rugby league are invited to Seabreeze Hotel, Nelson Bay at noon.

The open meeting was to share ideas and gather input on how to revitalise the Sharks club, and restore it to the glory days.

This season, the Sharks first grade side only won two of its 16 games and finished last on the ladder.
