The inaugural Variety Postie Bike Dash will follow in the tracks of the well-known bush bash completed by teams every year to raise money for the Variety Children's Charity
The event will be between Sunday, November 2, and Friday, November 7, starting and finishing in Newcastle.
Among the riders will be Raymond Terrace man David Douglas who purchased his standard Honda CT110 Postie Bike especially for the dash.
"I'm passionate about road riding and the Postie Dash was the perfect opportunity to combine my love of riding with helping a cause close to my heart," Mr Douglas said.
His father Ken is a regular participant in the Variety four-wheel motoring adventure, giving David the motivation to also complete a course.
"My dad always spoke about how inspired he was by the Variety Bash and it was always something I was motivated to be a part of," he said.
Mr Douglas has already raised more than $2000 for Variety and anyone can sponsor him by visiting the website varietypostiebikedash. everydayhero.com/au/david online.
Thirty riders will take their bikes on and off road.
