Mr Sheedy, an AFL Hall of Fame member who is the director and coach of the Greater Western Sydney Giants, visited the Salamander Bay school on Thursday, October 9.
He spoke to students and encouraged them to work hard, follow their passions and "be yourself".
"During the presentation, he noticed my tie that I was wearing that also happened to be the same colours as his team," Mr McKinnon said. "He left our school at 11am only to return at 1pm to make me an offer. He wanted my tie in exchange for his signed book."
The trade was made, with Mr Sheedy returning to the Giants to see if they could get something similar manufactured as the official team tie.
