The man was arrested and charged with domestic violence-related assault by Port Stephens police on October 19.
He was granted bail with strict conditions and was to follow the AVO conditions, which included not contacting his partner.
He was released from Raymond Terrace Police Station about 12.15am on Tuesday, October 21.
Five minutes later the man’s partner phoned police saying he was sending her text messages and phoning her.
Officers walked outside the station and located the man in William Street, a short distance away from where he had just been released.
Police said he attempted to run from the officers but was again arrested.
He appeared in court on October 21 with the matter finalised.
The man must continue to abide by his bail and AVO conditions.
