According to reports the 15-year-old male was on the beach near One Mile Beach holiday park when he was struck.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter crew reportedly attended the scene, as well as paramedics, but the boy could not be revived.
It is believed he suffered cardiac arrest.
The 15 year old was from the Beresfield/Thornton area.
