Mr Drummond’s body was found by trail bike riders in bushland in Wallaroo State Forest, near Clarence Town, about 5.30pm on Sunday, December 7.
He was 31.
It is believed Mr Drummond was going through a severe bout of depression when about 10.15am on Saturday, July 26, he set fire to his Soldiers Point Road home and disappeared.
At the time of his disappearance he was believed to have been travelling in a white Toyota Landcruiser.
Port Stephens police Inspector Guy Flaherty said a car had been found near Mr Drummond’s body on Sunday.
He added that it appeared Mr Drummond’s body had been lying where it was found for ‘‘some time’’.
Police were still investigating on Tuesday but were not treating the death as suspicious.
The 31-year-old was a former student of Grahamstown public and Irrawang high schools.
The Examiner reported on Mr Drummond’s disappearance in October, 11 weeks after he was reported missing.
Mr Drummond was believed to have suffered from mental illness.
He had worked at Holbert’s Oyster Farm in Salamander Bay for 12 years.
