Holiday World at Salamander Bay, which Mr and Mrs Melhuish will have owned for 20 years in June 2015, has won the Independent Travel Group's national agent of the year award.
The couple attended ITG's national conference in Hawaii in November where they accepted the award.
"Awards like this don't happen by chance and Doug and I couldn't be more thrilled with the win," Mrs Melhuish said.
The travel business has operated under the Holiday World banner for 12 months. It is one of about 500 travel businesses nationwide that are part of ITG.
The Melhuishs and team beat them all out on a point-based scoring system to win national agent of the year.
Mrs Melhuish said judges score the business on just about all aspects of travel, from presentation of staff to the level of service they provided.
While this is not the first award the Melhuishs and team have won, it is their first national award.
