I have had a technician up from the Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA) to try and resolve the reception issue once and for all.
After investigating all aspects of my system he informed me that the drop-out of various channels at particular times is due to tropospheric interference, when the layers of atmosphere move and cause a channelling effect of the signal from the Illawarra area to move up the coast to interfere with our signal which is on the same or near bandwidth (you may notice it happens in certain weather conditions each time).
I asked him when the government would fix this and he promptly replied "never, the bandwidth is pretty much full".
So, I ask you, who is listening locally?
