The annual fishing competition will run from 5am on Saturday, February 14 until 11am on Sunday, February 15.
The weekend of fun and fishing will kick off with the traditional ball from 8pm on Friday at the Bulahdelah Bowling Club.
While not technically a ball, as it is a casual affair, Bulahdelah Fishing Club president Darren Carrall said the event was the perfect opportunity to welcome visiting anglers to the town and have competitors meet each other.
‘‘We’ll get between 200 and 300 competitors but it always depends,’’ Mr Carrall said.
‘‘If we get rain a few days before, a lot of people won’t come.’’
The bass bash is a family-oriented fishing competition.
There are junior and senior sections in the opens and ‘‘Mighty Mullet’’ categories.
Juniors only can enter the eel classic.
The biggest, live bass weighed in throughout the weekend would win, however there would be many prizes up for grabs for the largest other species.
‘‘As you catch the bass, run them up to the weigh station,’’ Mr Carrall said.
‘‘The biggest are [written] up on the board. The scores are upgraded during the weekend. At the end, the biggest fish wins.’’
Registrations for the competition open at 4pm on Friday and extend throughout the weekend. They can be made along the riverbank near the Plough Inn Hotel.
The cost is $5 for juniors and $10 for seniors.
