The Port's divers, tourism operators, fishers and community members met on Monday to unfurl a striking banner featuring hundreds of photos taken by people from all walks of life over the summer.
"We launched the banner on Monday because it was the beginning of the week that the Advisory Panel for the Federal Review into the Commonwealth Marine Reserves hit town," said Cate Faehrmann, Save Our Marine Life Alliance.
"We're calling on the review panel to act in the interests of our marine life and coastal communities by recommending our marine parks and sanctuaries be reinstated immediately."
The banner was produced by the alliance, who were in town for the film screening on the same night of My Saltwater Sanctuary and The Sea & Me.
The film shows people from coastal communities right across Australia talking about their marine parks, including members from Port Stephens Marine Park.
The newly formed marine park group was also represented at the banner unfurling along with Ocean & Coastal Care Initiative, Port Stephens Yacht Club, Eco Network Port Stephens, Harmony Visions, Shoal Bay community Association, Great Lakes Underwater Group and both Port Stephens and Great Lakes Greens.
One of the speakers at the launch was world renowned marine park representative and Imagine Cruises operator Frank Future.
