In a civil society the disabled must not be put in a position to feel like a second-class citizen.
Yet there are so many public and business facilities that are without proper accessible amenities.
Port Stephens Council must ensure that facilities are installed, upgraded and maintained properly at all times.
I remember that one council required staff to sit and work in a wheelchair for a day to see how they managed.
Really there is no need to do that, if building officers, designers, engineers and the like would hear the plea for the disabled.
