CLUB secretary Jules Collins said more than 80 competitors from eight clubs scattered throughout NSW will compete in a series of bodyboarding events.
"This is very exciting, not only for our club members but also for the entire Port Stephens community. Many of the visitors will bring their families along and stay for three or more days," said Collins.
"We are a new club of about 40 members aged from 14 to over 40, and we are certainly hoping they can bring home some medals."
Competitors are judged on their style, manoeuvrability plus the difficulty and size of the wave.
"Bodyboarding is a growing sport, it not very expensive and is a lot of fun. Anyone can join our club."
The club conducts monthly competitions at Box Beach, with Tom Parker taking out the club's latest "Surfer of the Day" award.
