This is the second time Mitzy, a five-year-old female Staffordshire bull terrier, has found herself at the Williamtown pound.
Ms Hickie said Mitzy was found wandering in Lemon Tree Passage two weeks ago. She was taken to the refuge and her owner was notified.
However, Ms Hickie said the owner never showed up to collect her.
Ms Hickie described Mitzy as a "sweet dog".
"She's a real softie with humans," she said. "She would probably be only suited in a one dog situation.
"She's not a jumper, but she'll go through an open gate when she has the opportunity."
Mitzy is brindle in colour and medium in size.
