B BYRNES should consider the wider picture [Bulk waste killing grass, Examiner, February 26]. There is a cost to we, the ratepayers, for the removal of these unwanted goods.

Remember someone's junk is another person's treasure.
Therefore the later the collection more treasures are removed creating less work and time for the council. This in turn reflects on the rate charges.
A dead piece of grass (which will, of course, grow again) is of little price to pay.
