TWENTY-three medals, numerous personal best times and a record-equalling run highlighted the Raymond Terrace Athletics Club performance at last weekend's regional championships.

Thirty-nine Terrace members battled searing temperatures as well as little athletes from 32 other centres at the Glendale carnival.
Raymond Terrace had athletes qualify in 17 events for the Little Athletics state championships at Homebush, March 20-22.
Katie Smee was the standout performer, winning gold in both the 100-metre and 200m sprint races, and equalling the under-17 age record in the latter.
Under-eight age group athlete Sienna Newton was the centre's youngest medal winner, finishing with bronze in the 200m, 400m and long jump events plus fourth in the 60m hurdles.
Sienna will have to wait until next year to have the opportunity to progress to state championships.
Other medal winners and state qualifiers included: Under 10s: Kye Andrews - gold high jump; Tyler Clarke - bronze 400m and discus; Ire Oloruntoba - silver 70m, bronze 100m; Oscar Roberts - gold 400m, bronze 800m and 1500m; Ebony Newton - silver 100m and 200m.
Under 11s: Jai Holland - gold long jump, silver 400m. Under 12s: Thomas Bray - silver triple jump. Under 13s: Ellen Ditton - silver 80m hurdles. Under 14s: Thomas Jenkinson - silver shot put; Dakota Gordon - silver high jump; Belle Leonard - gold 80m hurdles, silver 200m hurdles, Under 17s: Katie Smee - gold 100m and 200m (equal record).
Senior girls relay team: Ellen Ditton, Belle Leonard, Dakota Gordon, Katie Smee - silver.
The state championships will bring the athletics season to a close, but the centre will hold its annual Wallaroo State Forest fun run on Sunday, May 17.
