The Mandala multicultural art project is being staged at Tomaree Library and Community Centre until April 16.
Project facilitator Jacqui Orwell said there were 35 art pieces on display from such diverse countries as Thailand, Japan, Hungry, China, Mexico, Iran, Greece and Finland.
"The Mandala project has a focus on parents from culturally and linguistically diverse background and explores the differences and similarities of parenting across cultures," Ms Orwell said.
"The project includes workshops and discussions with participants being guided through the process of creating a written or symbolic artwork.
"They have also added a caption that speaks about their personal journey which has led them to Australia," she said.
Ms Orwell encourages everyone to go along to the exhibition to enjoy the art works and read the collection of reflective stories that accompany them.
The project is funded by the Port Stephens Council's cultural project fund.
