April 18 is also World Heritage Day and part of Youth Week. In keeping with both themes, the festival will pay homage to the history and heritage of Raymond Terrace, as well as cater for the area's youth. Organiser Kaye Newton said there would be an activity in which 13 to 19 year olds contest for cash prizes.
"A knucklebones contest will be sponsored by the youth advisory group at Port Stephens Council," Ms Newton said.
"Have you heard of Weetbix speed eating? You can be timed to check how long it takes to eat one dry Weetbix."
Ms Newton said many Port organisations were getting behind the festival with arts and crafts and historical information being displayed.
"We will also have photos from the recent Capture King Street competition and photos from the Tomorrow When the War Began movie filmed in King Street.
"Also, you can read a copy of the Raymond Terrace Examiner dated April 19, 1915, when the Examiner had its office at 26 King Street."
Nova Cruises was bringing people via the Hunter River from Newcastle for a couple of hours before returning to Newcastle.
King Street will be closed to traffic for the festival from 10am to 3pm.
