Coordinator Tracy Scott said that more 1000 new and used bras were collected on the Tomaree Peninsula in the first month for the Uplift Project.
"Uplift is an initiative where new and recycled bras are donated to women living in some of our poorer neighbouring countries," Ms Scott said.
"We also collect new undies and appreciate a gold coin donation to help pay for shipping."
In many regions, second-hand bras are rarely available and a new bra could cost 10-30 hours' wages.
Drop off points include: IGA Nelson Bay and Anna Bay, Iggy's Bazaar, Salamander Bay Neighbourhood Centre, Birubi Caravan Park, Christiane's Hair Design, Vinnies Anna Bay and Nelson Bay, Soldiers Point Bowling Club, Recycle Centre, Wanda Beach Pharmacy, and Bunnings Warehouse.
