A researcher with Taylors Beach-based Fisheries Research and Development Corporation, the 38-year-old left for Jakarta last Saturday for a two-week tour examining leadership and innovation in a nation of cultural and political diversity.
"The trip is all about getting a deeper understanding of leadership in a different cultural and geopolitical context," said Mr Barwick, whose role at Fisheries includes the control of pest species such as carp.
"I am hoping to meet leaders in their fields, including fisheries, doing amazing things to improve their communities and the environment."
The delegation will be touring Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta and surrounding regions.
The ARLF is a program for established leaders working in and for rural, regional and remote Australia. It takes place in six sessions spread over 50 days.
