President Taurie Lalor said the number of patients the group has supported so far this year has been one of the highest in 14 years of operation.

Ms Lalor said the group had spent about $37,000 on driving patients to and from Newcastle for treatment alone.

"We've been doing a lot of driving this year, and a lot of house cleaning jobs," she said.

As a not-for-profit organisation, the group relies on the funds it raises through its two main events - a golf day in March and the In the Pink breakfast in October - to help breast cancer patients on the Tomaree Peninsula.

The group is also supported by Port Stephens Women in Business, past patients who take on their own fundraising initiatives and donations by the community.

Ms Lalor said the breakfast, to be held at Nelson Bay Bowling Club on October 14, was one of the group's biggest fundraising events.

Last year the breakfast was attended by 330 women.

Guest speaker this year will be Wendy Stein who campaigns for women's rights in Papua New Guinea.

Tickets for the breakfast, now in its 13th year, go on sale from the bowling club on September 1.

The cost is $30 a ticket.

Breakfast kicks off at 7am and the dress code is pink.
