The Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase will hit Newcastle on Saturday, September 5.
Boasting a line-up of the best Australian and international comics and showcasing some of the funniest and freshest emerging talents, belly laughs aplenty are promised at Newcastle Civic Theatre when the roadshow rolls in.
Emcee for the night is one of Australia's rising comedians, Ray Badran.
Badran is a regular headliner on the Sydney comedy scene and was a stand-out at last year's festival opening night gala.
Highlights from the showcase include cross-cultural comedian Ivan Aristeguieta, the refreshingly unique Mike Goldstein, musical maestro Benny Davis, the understated truth-telling of Tien Tran and the darling of Australian comedy, Becky Lucas.
The genre-defying fable spinner Michael Workman will also perform.
Workman creates unexpected worlds, rich characters and many, many laughs.
His gentle yet powerfully poignant work stands apart from the rapid-fire gags of conventional comedy.
The September 5 show will begin at 8pm. Tickets, available from civictheatrenewcastle.com.au, cost $52 for adults.
The Examiner has two double passes to give away to the show.
To win, send your name and contact details in an email titled "Comedy" to ewatts@fairfaxmedia.com.au. The winner will be notified by 5pm on Wednesday, September 2.
