Operation Doboy was formed by Port Stephens police in March to investigate the supply of methamphetamine, also known as ice, in the area.
About 7am on August 28, officers from Operation Doboy executed simultaneous search warrants at two homes in Newtown, in Shoal Bay, Salt Ash, and three homes in Tanilba Bay where police allegedly seized a large amount of drugs believed to be ice, approximately 6000 tablets believed to be amphetamines, a shotgun and two pistols.
At the homes in Tanilba Bay two women, aged 18 and 35, and a 36-year-old man were arrested.
During searches in Newtown, police dismantled a clandestine drug laboratory and seized nearly two litres of a liquid believed to be the drug GHB, tablets believed to be methylamphetamine and other items.
Officers from the State Crime Command’s Chemical Operations Unit assisted police with the search warrants at Newtown.
At the Newtown homes a 47-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were arrested.
The three women and two men are currently assisting with inquiries.
Investigations into the incident and the supply of drugs in the area are continuing.
Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
