Panelbeater Damien Crew is a third year apprentice with Anthony Lloyd Smash Repairs at Salamander Bay and one of four finalists in the 2015 Apprentice of the Year category.
In 2014, Kelly Manning received a similar nomination.
Mr Crew, an 18-year-old former Tomaree High student, said he was "stoked" to be a finalist in this year's awards.
"It's an awesome feeling. I am grateful to Mark [Elliott business owner] for giving me an opportunity and the Real Futures program for offering me a scholarship when still at school," Mr Crew said.
"I would like to think that I will remain in the industry for as long as possible."
Mr Elliott praised the young apprentice for his "dedication and his ability to go that extra level to get the job done right".
"We are very proud of Damien; this is a national award where he will be competing against all motoring apprentices, not just panel beaters," Mr Elliott said.
The winner will be announced in Sydney on November 7.
