NSW Greens senator Lee Rhiannon is set to make good on her promise to Williamtown and Salt Ash residents and move a motion in the senate today calling for an inquiry into the water contamination.

Ms Rhiannon visited Williamtown on November 16 to hear the concerns of contamination-affected residents.
During her visit, Ms Rhiannon said she hoped to launch a parliamentary inquiry into the contamination.
She was set to call for the inquiry in the senate on Wednesday, November 25 following a meeting with affected residents who travelled to Canberra to meet with politicians.
“The senate inquiry will address the many unanswered questions relating to the Department of Defence’s negligence and secrecy, residents’ health, the impacts upon businesses and property values, and the impact that this has had upon the natural environment,” she said.
“It is critical that these issues are resolved for the residents and businesses of Williamtown.
“The inquiry could also assist residents near other bases where similar contamination has occurred.
“I will be seeking support from the cross bench for this motion and trust they will work with me on this important inquiry.”
