Paterson MP Bob Baldwin said that the Regional Broadcasters Australia (RBAH) would commence test broadcasts from the Wallaroo site on Monday.
“The tower will provide an alternative transmission signal option for viewers in the Medowie, Salt Ash and lower Port Stephens areas,” said Mr Baldwin.
The test broadcasts will run from 9am until 5pm daily with all five free-to-air channels – NBN, Prime, Southern Cross Ten, ABC and SBS –broadcasting from the new site.
“I’d like to remind residents not to repoint their antennas or retune their digital receivers as yet as these are only test transmissions,” Mr Baldwin said.
“Viewers will be given the information for the site when the testing is completed.”
The work being undertaken is part of an upgrade project to provide alternative television reception sources for residents in the area who suffer from poor reception due to co-channel interference.
More works are being undertaken including upgrading the Gan Gan transmission site to provide a wider coverage and a new transmission site at Bulahdelah.
