Appearance poor taste
Whilst the Labor candidate for Paterson, Meryl Swanson, has every right to campaign for the upcoming federal election, to choose to do so on ANZAC Day was, in my opinion, in poor taste.

After the Dawn Service at Raymond Terrace, Ms Swanson was 'working the room' at the post service breakfast.
I found this to be at little offensive and certainly not the appropriate time to push a political agenda.
The people I was with shared this view as have others I have spoken to since.

Shabby loos at Shoal Bay
What a poor reflection on our community, are the public toilets on the foreshore at Shoal Bay.
This small but prominent building opposite the main hub of shops and cafes is internally, nearing a third world standard.
For example the men's stainless steel urinal is eroding away with rust.
The toilet cubicles, tiling, and general internal appearance is extremely shabby and feels and looks unclean.
Both the community and visitors alike, are deserving of a more hygienic facility than this example of serious neglect.

Port residents ignored
The Baird government is treating the residents of Port Stephens with contempt.
Many people within our community took the time and effort to make representation at meetings and write submissions to the government regarding the proposed council amalgamations.
We now find out that these submissions have been ignored.
How can we trust this government to act on behalf of the people of NSW?
Is their priority to just sell off the state to overseas investors?

Power of prayer
In February 2015, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
It has been quite a rough journey and at times life threatening but after 15 long months, I have finished my treatment and been declared cancer free.
During this time I have been prayed for by many people, most I know but quite a few I don't.
So this is a very personal thank you to all those beautiful, caring people who have diligently upheld me in prayer over many, many months.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Thanks also to my team of specialists, nurses and the Day oncology team, most of which are at the Breast and Endocrine Centre at Gateshead and Lake Macquarie Private Hospital. What an incredible team to have on your side.
The support from the Cancer Council has also been invaluable.
Thanks also to my support network - my beautiful and adoring husband Gavin and my two special girls, Bethany and Elisa.
Your strength, comfort, laughter and love, have made me fight harder and brought me through my darkest of days.
Also to my extended family, friends, church and bible study group who have helped in so many ways practically and prayerfully.
My last thanks goes to my Lord, Jesus Christ, who without having Him in my life would have not made this journey what it was.
I thank you that you are bigger than cancer, that you love me unconditionally despite my faults and you answer prayers.
I thank you that you are faithful, generous, caring, loving and supportive and for helping me get through the fight of my life, for you are my Lord and I love you.
