The sailing group, based at Grahamstown Dam, were able to buy a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) with the money Ms Blumer raised on her 1000km run of the Bibbulmun Track. Ms Blumer endured some challenging conditions, such as running with blistered feet for the last 150km.
“I pushed myself knowing that my challenge was going to end, and comparing my situation to people with disabilities whose challenges are continuous,” Ms Blumer said of the endurance race.
The RIB was named Claudia B in honour of Ms Blumer’s contribution to the club. Following official proceedings at the dam on April 30 where speeches were made, Claudia B was launched.
“Sailability Port Stephens would like to thank all those who put their money behind Claudia to make this purchase possible,” Annette Messenger from Sailability Port Stephens said.
