When holidaying recently at beautiful Salamander Bay and Soldiers Point we were extremely disappointed to find that bikeways in this part of Port Stephens are non-existent.
For reasons known only to your local council the residents of Nelson Bay and Fingal are catered for while the rest of the bay is ignored.

Anna Bay the poor cousin
Why does Port Stephens Council show so much contempt towards Anna Bay residents?
The Gan Gan road bike path is missing an entire section meaning children have to ride along a dangerous stretch of road.
To add insult to injury, the path recommences on the other side of the road. Is this poor planning or black humour?
Then we have the development debacle by way of Birubi Beach Resort which is known to locals as “Little Beirut”. A new graffiti tag is added to the sandblasted monstrosity each week.
And now, despite clear recommendations from local police to reject it, councillors have approved another bottle shop.
Yes, let's rip out a family-friendly restaurant that employs local students and whack in a third bottle shop in what is described as a 'hot spot' for alcohol-fueled crime.
What a Joke.
And you want our support to stop a merger?

Assistance appreciated
HUGE and heartfelt thanks to the wonderful emergency workers that attended the motor accident on Grahamstown Road on the evening of April 26.
The SES, ambulance and police worked tirelessly to free my granddaughter and her boyfriend from the wrecked vehicle. Thank you also, to the complete strangers who stopped and rendered assistance in the beginning.

A bottle shop too many
THREE bottle shops and a pub within metres of each other in Anna Bay?
Port Stephens Council must be joking.
We have missing parts of bike paths, the rear side of the local school has no bike or footpath – on bin day residents dodge other cars, children, adults, strollers, bikes, scooters and dog walkers all trying to get their kids to school safely using the single road access.
We pay good rates but it seems we live on the ‘wrong side' of the school to get basic facilities.
The toilets next to IGA are disgusting and you can’t find a garbage bin that isn’t padlocked.
The toilets at Little Shelly & Whalebone beaches are terrible, the lack of drainage means the playground on the smallest foreshore strip available to the public is always flooded in winter; you can’t find a garbage bin at Robinson Reserve.
Planning for traffic flow and parking - where is it ? Count how many cars use the Anna Bay main thoroughfare on Gan Gan Road each day. It is thousands of traffic movements. We desperately need a ‘round-about on Campbell Avenue – traffic can’t move either side as it is like Pitt Street.
Merger? What merger? You couldn’t possibly be asking for our support?
What do the tourists think when they enter the Gateway to Port Stephens?
Why is there seemingly zero interest in any form of planning or aesthetics in the Anna Bay shopping precinct? What exactly are we trying to attract here?
