Residents packed into King Street, Raymond Terrace on May 21 for the second annual festival that celebrates the street’s historical significance.
“It was so good to see a lot more people getting into the theme and dressed up in vintage clothing,” festival organiser Kaye Newton said.
“The Black Joak Morris dancers were a hit, bringing a form of traditional English folk dancing that most people had never seen live.
“Ben Tranter, the Town Crier was popular for letting children sit on his penny farthing, but he did try to sell off the bride.
“There was a good selection of beards for the MarketPlace Majestic Beard competition which was a new feature this year.
“The couple renewing their vows [Jo and Steve Pinter] were a delight with their whole family dressed in vintage clothing and Jo looking resplendent in a vintage wedding dress.
“Raymond Terrace did itself proud with performances by local groups such as the Irrawang High School Drum Corps, a troupe of young dancers from Dance Extreme studio and Port Stephens Community Choir.
“It couldn’t be put on without the support of the local community organisations including Scouts, Lions, Rotary, and more.”
