Such a pretty part of the Hunter region and coach driver Darren had lots of interesting anecdotes to keep us informed and amused on the way.

The Friends of Tocal guide, Robyn, was excellent and her knowledge of the history of Tocal and stories of the families that have lived there was so interesting.

The lovely old Georgian Homestead and all the original outbuildings and not forgetting the majestic trees, one which was over 400 years old, gave this Probus group plenty to see.

One of this club’s members, Rod Cox is an ex-student and past President, George Hammond has had a very long association with the College.

A delicious morning tea and hot lunch were served in the dining area and then it was across the road to visit the dairy. On the way home we called into Darrell Lee shop.

This destination is highly recommended for group bookings through the week and open at weekends for visitors as well.  They have couple of great days coming up; one in June – Back to Back Wool Challenge and one in July – Peek into the Past. Take the grandchildren.

THE Tilligerry RSL Sub-Branch Women’s Auxiliary are saddened by the passing of their long standing member and friend Lillian ‘Connie’ Fish who passed away on May 8, 2016.   

Connie joined the Auxiliary in 2004.

During that time she has been a willing hard working member assisting in fundraising, donating hand made crafts and attending numerous annual State Congress in Sydney.   

Connie was an avid gardener, with her little mate Casper always by her side. Connie enjoyed ceramics and was also involved in several community groups.    

Connie’s famous Anzac Biscuit recipe has been a huge success in recent years and in future times she will always be remembered on Anzac Day. She will be dearly missed by all.

THE clinical services team at integratedliving Australia has been recognised for its contribution towards achieving better health outcomes.

The service won the Team Excellence Award at the 10^th HESTA Australian Nursing Awards, held in Melbourne on International Nurses Day (May 12, 2016).

Integratedliving was acknowledged for its practical approach in providing culturally appropriate dishes and using native ‘wild food’ ingredients that promote improved diet and health outcomes.

Harnessing the collaboration with Indigenous one-hatted chef Clayton Donovan, the team has expanded its initial idea into a community-focused initiative connecting Elders, schools and communities to bring about long-term change.

“With 15 years of experience and a focus on the future, we are thrilled to win this award,” integratedliving Australia CEO Catherine Daley said. “It shows that we are recognised in the local community and acknowledges the hard work of our dedicated staff.”

Integratedliving was also named a finalist in the Best Dementia Care Programme at the recent Ageing Asia 4^th Eldercare Awards held in Singapore in April this year.

More than 550 applications were received for the various award categories with entries from Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, India, Thailand and Australia.
