Instead, take them to Hunter Region Botanic Gardens.
The botanic gardens, found at Heatherbrae, will host its popular holiday program Nature is Fun for primary school-aged children on Wednesday, July 13.
Children will learn about the wildlife and different species of plants that call the gardens home during a tour by the resident botanist.
Along the way, children will collect garden items such as pine cones, leaves and sticks and use them to create an artwork inspired by nature.
The program will run between 10.30am and noon.
The cost is $5 per child.
